Some birthday party venues need a lot of work to create a good atmosphere. Dr Morse already has it. There’s candlelight through the bistro, a disco ball hanging above the beer garden, and in-house DJs playing Thursday to Sunday. It’s the kind of place where everyone settles in quickly and the stories from the night stick around long after the birthday is over.
Spaces for Every Style of Birthday Party
No two birthdays are the same, which is why we have different spaces to celebrate. The Bistro suits intimate dinners and share-style feasts, with capacity for 32 seated or 30 canapé guests. The Bar works well for welcome drinks or smaller cocktail gatherings, with room for 20 seated or 30 canapé guests. For larger birthday parties, the Beer Garden hosts up to 140 cocktail-style guests. We also offer private hire for groups of up to 140 cocktail guests, excluding Friday and Saturday evenings. Check out our functions information for more details about each space.

Celebrate Your 21st in Melbourne's Inner East
A 21st birthday venue needs a built-in atmosphere. Dr Morse has that in spades. You can start with canapés and drinks, then let the night shift naturally towards dancing. Between the disco ball, in-house DJs, Bodriggy beers on tap and Italian bistro setting, there’s already plenty happening before your guests arrive. If you want to bring your own DJ or playlist, we also have DJ decks, microphones and an AUX cord available.
30ths, 40ths and 50ths Done Properly
Dr Morse is a great venue for 30th, 40th and 50th birthday parties in Melbourne because we combine proper food and drinks with plenty of personality. Your 30th might be cocktails and a DJ. Your 40th could be a sit-down Italian dinner. Your 50th might call for a Beer Garden takeover with grazing boards and Bodriggy beers. However you celebrate, we’ve got you covered.
Hosting an 18th at Dr Morse
Our birthday party venue is the perfect spot to celebrate your 18th in Melbourne. It gives you a proper place to mark the night without making it feel like a formal sit-down event. Just note that the celebrant must be 18 on the night and underage guests need to be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Get in touch and our functions manager can help you plan the details.

Modern Italian food is at the heart of every birthday at Dr Morse. Canapé packages start from $45 pp, with a premium option at $58 pp, while the $65 pp Feed Me menu suits larger group dinners. There are also grazing boards from $490 through to $950. Pair the food with Bodriggy beers on tap, cocktails, wine and beverage packages from $75 pp, with optional house spirits available.
Easy Birthday Party Venue Hire
We’ve got a dedicated functions manager to help you with everything from food and drinks packages to dietary requirements, timing and AV. We have DJ decks, TVs, microphones and an AUX cord available if you want them, too. Food selections are finalised seven days before the event and a 50% deposit secures your booking. We’re located at 274 Johnston Street in Abbotsford, directly underneath Victoria Park Station and around 15 minutes from Flinders Street by train. If you drive in, there’s also free 4-hour parking nearby on Lulie Street.
